Overview:

The Director Pastoral Education is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing Clinical Pastoral Education programs across Mercy, meet the standards for system accreditation by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), ensure reimbursement of programs from available sources, and provide effective leadership and management of day-to-day operations of one CPE component site within system. The Program Director will lead direct reports, students, programs, and processes in accordance with the Mission, Core Values & Charism, and Vision of Mercy and the Standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Masters degree in Ministry, Theology, Divinity, or related field
    • Certified Educator, National Faculty level by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
  • Experience:
    • 5 years experience as ACPE Certified Educator
    • Current endorsement or ordination in a spiritual/faith group
    • Administrative ability to ensure attention to timelines/milestones, detail, financial issues, and accountability in Mercy and in ACPE.
    • Licenses, registrations, or certifications:
    • Certified Educator, National Faculty level by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to maintain ACPE Accreditation oversight for System accreditation.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.
  • Regular presence and engagement at local component site and with CEs of other component sites.
  • Travel across the System is required.
  • Competent with complex collaborative relationships and matrix reporting in Mission, Pastoral Services, and Clinical Pastoral Education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading Level II CPE and educating Certified Educator Candidates
  • Four years of experience in Chaplaincy in a health care setting (may include years of preparation as ACPE Certified Educator)
  • 2 years in management role- 5 years experience as chaplain in health care setting
