Overview

The Manager I manages professionals and/or leaders and is accountable for the performance and results of the team. Decisions are guided by policies, resources and business plan. The Leadership impact is the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness of objectives. The Manager I - Desktop Engineering is responsible for overseeing day to day activities for the desktop engineering team.

The Virtual Desktop Engineering Manager I will play a crucial role in overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual platforms and systems within Desktop Engineering. Below I have detailed roles and responsibilities for this position that will be essential in increasing the value of the services provided and the VDE team member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day Build, Run, and Maintain objectives of the Virtual Desktop Engineering (VDE) team
  • Set goals, define objectives, and establish key processes to align with the strategic vision of the Desktop Engineering department
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project success and overall team efficiency
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of both cloud-based and on-premises VDI solutions and service components
  • Ensure the efficiency and continuous improvement of VDI systems and associated critical eco system partner owned services (VSE Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, Support)
  • Be a champion and provide oversight during Internal security audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain a secure virtual desktop environment
  • Work closely with senior leaders and other IT teams to deliver innovative solutions that align with the NFCU's ETS current and forward looking strategy
  • Lead VDE team in responding to ecosystem and partner questions and resolve technical issues promptly
  • Foster a culture of collaboration with other members of the ETS team to develop, implement, run, and maintain new and existing virtual platforms, services and technologies
  • Lead in the optimization of monitoring system performance and make recommendations for improvements
  • Implement new technologies and optimize existing ones to enhance the overall performance of the virtual desktop environment
  • Provides 24x7 support and guidance to team and assistant managers
  • Oversees metric and SLA adherence
  • Coach technical staff through new and routine tasks
  • Identifies and oversees service improvement opportunities
  • Oversees technical adherence to organization directives, standards and instructions relating to systems under management
  • Oversees all programs and projects ensuring on time, on budget, quality delivery
  • Track data and write reports on team objectives and metrics
  • Monitor and maintain desktop services throughout the organization, assigning resources to ensure operations
  • Oversees supervisor functions including performance evaluations, team meetings, one on ones
  • Maintains relationships with supporting vendors

Qualifications

  • 3 years systems management experience including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and/or JAMF Apple Device Management
  • 3 years experience with advanced troubleshooting of Windows and/or Mac end points
  • Experience in managing Windows and Mac OS, familiarity with desktop support software and tools, Citrix Virtual Infrastructure etc. and knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure
  • Strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead the VDE team
  • 3 years experience coordinating change management activities
  • 3 years experience communicating at the enterprise level in regards to project and operational topics
  • 3 years experience analyzing and mitigating operating system and application vulnerabilities with Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and various applications
  • 3 years experience managing vendor performance as it relates to contractual obligations
  • Bachelor's Degree Information Technology or equivalent experience
