We are actively looking for a QA Engineer to join our Costa Mesa office to support our FlexTerm group. FlexTerm is a real-time 3D industrial simulation platform where complex logistics systems are studied, designed, optimized, developed, and tested before being deployed into production. It allows to model any kind of system; however, it is mostly applied to highly automated facilities such as ports, container terminals, automated warehouses and factories, etc. These systems typically integrate infrastructure, equipment, people, automatic control systems, sensors, complex business logic, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to perform a common goal.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to develop, execute, and manage the life cycle of our software tests to ensure product quality. QA Engineer responsibilities include maintaining the existing test frameworks, designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics. The QA Engineer role plays an important part in our company's product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets the user's needs, while being cost-effective. Ultimately, you should monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards. This role will work with product management, software developers, and other engineering teams to design specific testing strategies to maintain product quality.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing automation test frameworks
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Collect and report quality metrics from test execution
  • Create comprehensive test plans; execute and automate them
  • Work with developers to design specific testing strategies for features being developed and automate them
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open-source tools
  • Work with the engineering organizations in troubleshooting or addressing issues with applications and dev/test environments
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with the agile methodology for software development teams
  • Ability to use several testing techniques (e.g. performance, unit, integration, automated), their strengths and weakness, and ability to use them to best effect - including tracking and addressing of any discovered issues
  • Ability to use tools (such as IDE, debugger, build tools, source control, profilers, system administration/Unix tools) to assist with daily tasks
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience in source control systems (GitLab/Bitbucket)
  • Experience in collaboration software (Jira, Confluence)

Base salary range:

$116,000 to $142,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California markets.

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
