Job Summary

We are seeking a Full-Time, Onsite Performance Nutrition Dietitian for Baylor University Dining Services with Chartwells in Waco, TX!

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Performance Chef and BANC Location Manager, in conjunction with the Baylor Athletics Performance Nutrition RDs, to develop menus for the Athletics dining hall (BANC)
  • Be present at meal services to answer questions related to food selections, nutritional quality, and dietary restrictions
  • Oversee quality control at the BANC to ensure accurate menu execution, food and allergen labeling, food service, and that overall appeal and quality meets appropriate standards
  • Under the direction of Baylor Performance Nutrition staff, develop and execute creative nutrition education initiatives and events for Baylor student-athletes, such as cooking demos, food samplings and tabling events, etc.
  • Develop educational collateral for the Athletics dining hall and social media for the BANC that highlights ingredients, food groups, cultural cuisines, and nutritional qualities that benefit student-athletes (consistent with messaging provided by Athletics Performance Nutrition)
  • Provide education and regular in-services for BANC staff on pertinent topics such as food safety
  • Ensure allergens are appropriately labeled in the BANC and that allergen-free items are available and prepared appropriately for student-athletes with dietary restrictions
  • Provide allergen education to student-athletes and staff during meal services in the BANC
  • Facilitate a student-athlete dining committee to provide regular feedback on BANC services (in collaboration with Athletics Performance Nutrition staff).
  • Management of software needs supporting Performance Nutrition goals for student-athletes, including RedCard to-go ordering, Teamworks Nutrition recipe entries, and others as assigned by Assistant AD for Performance Nutrition or designee.
  • Manage Performance Nutrition supplies inventory using appropriate software and assist in the development of SOPs to better monitor product use and movement across Athletics facilities.
  • Manage ordering via food distributors (Sysco, Vistar) for Baylor Performance Nutrition fueling stations and communicate with Performance Nutrition staff regarding out-of-stock products, changes to ordering needs, schedule adjustments, etc.
  • Assist with oversight of Athletics Dietetic Interns during portions of their 8-week rotation to fulfill relevant food service competencies. Provide feedback to interns and faculty regarding performance.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian credentialed with CDR and licensed in the state of Texas (or eligible for licensure within 6 months of hire)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage, motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to adapt to changing needs of the role
  • Able to work independently with little to no direction
  • Experience and/or interest in food service, inventory management and menu design - strongly preferred
  • Experience in performance nutrition - strongly preferred
