The Position
2025 Summer Intern - Molecular Biology Department Summary The Molecular Biology Department emphasizes technological innovation for developing and applying novel molecular genetic techniques to modeling human diseases and delivering therapeutic solutions. The department serves as an incubator for new technologies that reveal unique biological insights, accelerate drug target discovery, and lay the groundwork for cell-, gene-, and nucleic acid-based therapies. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic intern to join the Molecular Biology Technology Development team to explore cutting-edge molecular techniques and genome engineering technology. This individual will work closely with members of the group to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, and communicate findings with the Genentech research community. Responsibilities may include molecular and genome engineering techniques such as; sequence design, synthetic gene assembly/cloning, PCR, IVT, NGS, mammalian cell culture, transfection, flow cytometry and protocol troubleshooting, while maintaining sterile lab techniques and lab safety compliance. The candidate is expected to be agile, collaborative and eager to contribute to a fast-paced, evolving research program. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, California. Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40.00-$45.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
