Position Summary
Reports to the Associate Chief Ambulatory Operations Officer. The Director of Endoscopy Lab will plan, direct, organize, control and evaluate the operations of Endoscopy Lab operations. This position has 24X7 responsibilities of Endoscopy lab including staffing, supplies and equipment. This role is responsible for optimizing and increasing utilization of SCB Endoscopy lab through collaboration with physicians and Associate Chief Ambulatory Operations Officer SCB and communication and oversight of Endoscopy scheduling services. This position is responsible for directing and managing daily operations of the endoscopy suites including the peri anesthesia areas.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily operations of Endoscopy lab services, including 24x7 oversight
  • Manages budget, quality and safety standards for Endoscopy along with efficiency and throughput.
  • Manages the purchase and replacement of equipment and maintain proper inventory control for equipment.
  • Responsible for managing staffing which includes nurses, technologists, and support staff.
  • Over sees the human resources functions including hiring, training, and disciplining of staff Manages Scheduling staffing and productivity.
  • Manages scheduling of Endoscopy procedures in a timely manner with continuous monitoring of fax orders and Epic depot procedure orders.
  • Mentors and oversees nursing leaders in the Endoscopy lab
  • Acts as a resource to physicians and staff on current trends and policy changes relative to Endoscopy operations and provides training, if necessary, on these issues.
  • Accountable for the ongoing evaluation of the Endoscopy Lab financial performance measures
  • Collaborates with other areas to assure quality, safety, and efficiency are meeting target metrics
  • Work with hospital finance and IT to update and maintain charge description master and ensure that charges are billed appropriately.
  • Responsible for identifying and recommending process to improve revenues and reduce expenses
  • Responsible for managing the operational and capital budget within the set guidelines
  • Responsible for the Quality Assurance program for Endoscopy lab
  • Evaluate and recommend modifications to the Information systems which includes quality, efficiency, and revenue capture
  • Responsible for keeping current and providing in-services, as necessary, on Joint Commission, HIPPA, IDPH, IEMA, CMS policy changes, and other state and federal policy issues related to Endoscopy Services operations
  • Establishes and assures the achievement of the goals and objectives for the Hospital and SCB operations in support of overall strategic goals of the department and organization
  • Ensures departmental policies and procedures are reviewed and up-dated regularly as required by the university, medical center and external regulatory agencies
  • As a member of the Department management staff, provides primary input to senior level department management on decisions affecting Interventional Suite operations as well as feedback on global programmatic, planning and policy issues
  • Coordinates with peers to achieve organizational goals and objectives and to share information, solicit ideas, and resolve both basic and complex problems of mutual interest and concern
  • Assures timely and appropriate communication to staff pertaining to all aspect of operations. Represents Department leadership team to staff.
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required Master's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or Nursing preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of management level experience in healthcare which includes both supervisory and financial responsibilities.
  • Experience in managing GI/Endoscopy lab operations is preferred Experience in an urban setting and/or academic medical center preferred Team-oriented, with the ability to develop effective working relationships with both staff as well as colleagues across disciplines and functional areas.
  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas Ability to foster and proactively support diversity in the workforce
  • Demonstrated experience with coaching and feedback, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to inspire excellence in others
