A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Director of Construction is responsible for coordinating design and construction programs ranging from federal government, military housing, multifamily, light commercial to high rise projects for Hunt Building Company, LTD. Director of Construction will be responsible for management and oversight of construction management teams at multiple locations.

What you will do



  • Assists the SVP in developing consistent and effective construction processes to be implemented throughout the business unit. This includes, but not limited to, financial metrics, safety procedures, scheduling practices, owner/client relations, vendor management, reporting content and frequency, etc.
  • Assigns appropriate resources within the team to portfolio-wide tasks and projects. This may include the creation of new positions as well as the development of relocation plans for existing staff.
  • Cradle-to-grave involvement in project development including RFP/bidding process, awards, contract execution, project implementation and final close-outs. Oversees project team during permitting, design approval and construction implementation.
  • Responsible for financial success of each project, including recommendation for course corrections needed and implementation of the same.
  • Develops specific client requirements and establishes clear and verifiable expectations for the project team. Works collaboratively with all members of the project team to develop a comprehensive schedule, scope and budget based on approved funding.
  • Sets and monitors both team and individual goals necessary for success of the business unit. Develops incentive plans for increased performance. Develops course corrections plans for substandard performance.
  • Develops and monitors actual schedule and costs against structured project plans; monitor actual schedule and costs against the project estimates. Reports significant variances and develop corrective action plans.
  • Coordinates activities of other departments towards major project milestones. Works with in-house development, asset management and property management teams.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Required
  • Bachelor's Degree or, equivalent experience in business Required
  • Minimum of five to ten years' in the construction and project management industry, planning, estimating, monitoring, and reporting through the full project lifecycle, from initiation through closure. Required
  • Strong process management, project management and people management skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • A high degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic coupled with a sense of responsibility and integrity required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point and Project Management Software required.
  • Requires a self-motivated, team player who pays close attention to detail and must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, multi task and is highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently but also thrive in a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
  • Results-oriented with strong project management and execution skills.
  • Good client and public presentation skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with ability to sustain strong relationships with clients, peers, and business partners.

Compensation

We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience.
