Regions Hospital/HealthPartners Institute AEGD residents must meet the qualifications for resident eligibility as outlined in the HealthPartners Institute Policy on selection and credentialing of residents.

Resident education involves supervised, progressively more complex and independent patient evaluation and patient management functions and formal educational activities. Accordingly, the competency of each resident is evaluated on a regular basis.

Residents provide care commensurate with their level of advancement and competence, under the general supervision of appropriately privileged attending teaching staff and senior residents/fellows. It is each resident's responsibility to notify their immediate supervisor and to seek assistance if there are any issues that may jeopardize patient safety, or if the resident feels he/she is being asked to function beyond the level of competence.

While in the training program, all residents without exception will function under the supervision of a staff practitioner. The training programs will be structured to encourage and permit residents and fellows to assume increasing levels of responsibility commensurate with their individual growth process in experience, skill, knowledge and judgment. The following duties are required of all residents:

Initiate and follow a personal program of professional growth in conjunction with the formal educational and training of the residency program. This includes ensuring compassionate, appropriate, and cost-effective patient care. Skills demonstrated by the resident should be commensurate with their level of training and responsibility.

Participate in the educational activities of the program.

Perform procedures as required by the programs.

Meet institutional requirements with respect to completion of the electronic health record (EHR).

Participate, when appropriate on committees and councils whose actions affect resident education and patient care.

Participate in program specific educational experiences.

Complete all required institutional training program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Minimum qualifications needed for this position)

Graduate of an accredited Canadian or United States Dental school

Strong communication skills

Ability to work well with colleagues, patients, members and their families.
