Assistant Principal Director for NSG/Directorate H

The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are looking for an Assistant Principal Director (APD) for Directorate H to lead the west coast staff and help coordinate engineering/technical reach-back resources in support of two NRO SIGINT programs. The APD will provide leadership, planning and direction of the west coast staff and operations. This is a very dynamic time for the organization where Aerospace has the opportunity to influence decisions for future constellations, while simultaneously working manufacture, assembly, integration & test and launch challenges on current acquisitions.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, California which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Leading Directorate H west coast staff ensuring delivery of timely, high quality Aerospace products.
• Overseeing the execution of approximately 55 Professional Technical Staff (PTS) allocation, prioritizing resolution of the hardest problems and leveraging Aerospace's differentiating capabilities for the benefit of the program.
• Establishing strategic partnerships with Engineering Technology Group (ETG), including the development of technical bench strength, and advocating for technical resources as needed.
• Assisting the Principal Director on program level administrative matters including, organizational structure, staff and resource needs, PTS planning and estimates of Other Direct Costs.
• Identifying and funding areas of strategic investments, positioning Aerospace to lead from the front and at the ready to solve future hard problems.
• Direct involvement in the development of assessments to communicate program risks to customers and higher-level management.
• Coordinating weekly communications with senior customer leadership to provide awareness and status of Aerospace's key activities on the west coast.
• Collaborating across Aerospace's back-plane to bring enterprise perspectives to bear during resolution of program challenges.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Assistant Principal Director

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering, mathematics, or science field.
• 12 or more years of applicable professional experience including team leadership.
• Strong technical expertise in space systems including integration and test.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff.
• Proven ability to identify and prioritize high impact activities, propose action plans and execute within relevant program timelines.
• Strong communication skills, with ability to effectively influence senior leaders.
• Ability to solve complex multi-disciplinary challenges by leveraging teams with diverse skill sets.
• Willing to support occasional domestic travel.
• This position requires a current and active TS/SBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

• Demonstrated history of working with ETG management and SMEs to build expert teams at a speed that meets timeliness requirements
• Background in SIGINT systems.
• Demonstrated ability to brief and persuade senior customer leadership.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant Aerospace resources to support SIGINT mission payloads.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to lead and maintain the motivation of a highly talented west coast team.
