Overview

As a Customer Engineer specializing in Google Maps, Google Cloud Geospatial products and services, and Google Cloud Platform, you will be a key driver of Woolpert's LBS strategy. Your deep understanding of Google's LBS technology stack, combined with your ability to quickly master emerging LBS technologies, will shape Woolpert Digital Innovations-to-market strategy. As the resident LBS expert, you will support and often lead complex LBS opportunities, ensuring that all technical go-to-market materials are current, relevant, and well-understood by the Woolpert Digital Innovations Sales and Delivery teams.



Responsibilities

    Engage with customers to understand their pain points.

  • Advise customers on best practices for deploying and managing applications in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-premises).

  • Technically qualify opportunities.

  • Architect complex LBS solutions for customer environments (on-premises, cloud, or hybrid).

  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify customer needs and propose appropriate solutions.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Engineering, and Engineering to ensure solution fit, feasibility, and profitability.

  • Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and presentations to showcase the value of Google Maps and Google Cloud Geospatial technologies.

  • Ability to create estimated Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return On Investment (ROI) calculations for Customers.

  • Create and deliver Statements of Work (SOWs).

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of Google Maps and Google Cloud Geospatial technologies and the challenges they address for customers.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of current and future Google Maps and Google Cloud Geospatial licensing models.

  • Stay informed about technology updates, licensing changes, and business trends that could impact Woolpert's go-to-market strategy by networking within Google and with key partners.

  • Design, create, and continuously update demos and sales collateral (e.g., reference architectures, SOW templates) to empower Sales and Customer Engineering teams to accelerate sales cycles.

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (sales, engineering, support) to ensure seamless service delivery.

  • Obtain and maintain advanced-level LBS certifications.

  • Participate in projects involving Google Maps and Google Cloud Geospatial technologies.



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in Customer Engineering Software Engineering or similar field.

  • Experience building and deploying production-grade solutions in a virtualized environment such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or similar platform.

  • Proficient in at least one of: Java, C#, C++, Python, Go, modern JavaScript.

  • Experience managing internal or customer-facing projects to completion.

The following skills would make you an even stronger member of the team:

  • Relevant Google, Amazon, Azure or similar certification.

Google Maps-specific requirements:

  • Knowledge of non-Google geospatial platforms, libraries, and tools, such as ArcGIS, GeoServer, QGIS, GDAL, OpenLayers, MapBox, Leaflet, CARTO

  • CI/CD deployment to Cloud/containerized environments.

  • Applied Machine Learning and GenAI

Google Cloud-specific requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Apache Beam and Apache Hadoop for data processing and analysis.

  • CI/CD deployment to Cloud/containerized environments.

  • Google Certified Professional (Cloud Architect or Data Engineer), highly desirable.

  • Applied Machine Learning and GenAI
