Description

Assist the instructor to apply procedures and develop student's culinary knowledge while supporting them as individuals. Analyze and compile formative assessment while allowing students to be creative and progress into culinary maturity. This position has continuous contact with staff and students.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  1. Assist instructor in procedures in classroom and monitor instructional activities in lab and classroom.
  2. Conduct demonstrations in classroom and lab.
  3. Evaluate students by use of formative assessments.
  4. Provide ongoing administrative support to ensure efficient operations i.e. duplicating materials and organization, and updating and maintaining records including quizzes and classroom documents. Transfer paper materials to electronic correspondence.
  5. Assist in ordering and receiving product-purchase requisition forms.
  6. Support recollection of facts and concepts to develop student's abilities.
  7. Organize and assist with club activities and special events.
  8. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
  9. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, equipment and safety precautions
  • Flexibility with ability to adapt to changes in kitchen and classroom
  • Ability to manage time, organize and prioritize work
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in speaking, writing and listening
  • Orientation to detail, completing and maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Intermediate bookkeeping, computer skills, and office procedures
  • Familiarity with computer software applications such as word processing and spreadsheets

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Two-year Associate degree in Culinary Arts
  • Classroom instruction experience a plus
  • Two years of industry experience in the culinary field
