Seeking an Environmental Safety & Health Manager to assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining job site safety programs. Acts as an in-house adviser for the environmental, health and safety concerns pertaining to company and project operations and assures compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Promotes a positive safety culture at all levels of the organization, with heavy focus on employee engagement.
  • Creates and conducts Toolbox Talks. Identifies, develops, and delivers first rate safety education in areas such as safety laws & regulations, hazardous conditions, use of tools and equipment, PPE, OSHA training, and best practices within & outside industry.
  • Inspects jobsites to ensure safe work environments. Schedules and leads safety committee meetings. Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections. Inspects facilities, tooling, machinery, and safety equipment on routine basis to identify and correct potential hazards & ensures safety regulation compliance and employee safety.
  • Investigate recordable and near miss incidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes and preventative measures. Facilitates subsequent accident review meetings.
  • Orders and maintains Safety Gear and Supplies.
  • Conducts site safety orientation and training for employees and subcontractors.
  • Builds working relationships with project staff, owner staff, and subcontractor safety representatives.
  • Enforces safety program and related policies and procedures and implements immediate corrective actions in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations and owner requirements.
  • Holds pre-construction planning meeting with subcontractors to review overall site safety program and job hazard analysis for their scope of work, and ensures plans are in place to mitigate risks.
  • Updates and maintains company Safety Manual/Policies.
  • Develops and conducts formal training programs covering a variety of areas. Maintains all employee safety training records. Responds to employee safety concerns, by examining safety issues, preparing corrective actions, and ensuring appropriate follow-up.


SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, risk management, safety engineering or related field preferable. A minimum of 5+ years of construction / heavy industrial safety leadership experience.
  • Ability to pass extensive background checks for badging purposes; to include NASA, CCSFS, PSFB.
  • Required Certifications: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, EM-385-1-1 40 HR. OSHA 500 certification preferred. First Aid and CPR (with AED).
  • Competent Person Requirements: Confined Space, Fall Protection, Cranes and Rigging, Scaffolding, Trainer
  • Superior written, verbal communication and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment
