THE OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science center's working together with one of the nation's premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking applicants who are BE/BC in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine to join our dynamic and accomplished Pediatric Hospital Medicine faculty within the Division of Critical Care and Hospital Medicine. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to mentor, teach and supervise medical students, residents, nurse practitioners and Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellows at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, a Magnet-designated quaternary children's hospital in Northern Manhattan where they will provide most of their clinical care. They will also have the unique opportunity to provide oversight and care for patients who attend the Day Hospital Program at Blythedale Children's Hospital, a state-of-the-art specialty children's hospital in Westchester County. All faculty are expected to pursue an academic focus in quality improvement, health care systems, clinical research, qualitative research, or other relevant field.


Qualifications


  • Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License.
  • Must be Board certification / Eligible in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
  • Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.
  • The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other's contributions and the ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.
