Job Summary

The Wound -Ostomy Continence Nurse assists in the coordination of care and education of the wound -ostomy continence patient. The wound ostomy and continence nurse and clinical specialist assist in coordinating care for the wound/Ostomy continence patient. Serves as a role model for the practice of nursing care.

• Collaborates and consults with physician, clinical staff, patients, and families to assist in developing and implementing wound ostomy continence plan of care

• Serves as a resource to staff for patient care needs

• Participates in staff development

• Collaborates and consults with other disciplines, peers, patients, and families to provide comprehensive healthcare using clinical research and evidence-based practice

• Assists in education of patients and families

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required

• Kentucky RN License

• BSN

• Continence certification preferred

• Two to five years of experience with wound ostomy patients preferred

• BCLS

• Must obtain Certification in area wound and ostomy within 2 years
