Responsibilities

  1. Position Summary:

Director will oversee all assessment and referral activities for the facility and provide direction to the staff for psychiatric assessment services, clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. Director will oversee all reporting matrix for admissions for the facility to corporate and local facility affiliates. Director will also work to build, maintain, and develop innovative referral processes with community stakeholders to best meet the community needs. This individual will work closely with the medical staff, department heads, administration, business office, and utilization management staff. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Current LPC or LCSW licensure status in Commonwealth of Virginia preferred.
  • Current HWC , CPR and First Aid certification
  1. Education/Experience:
  • Current LPC or LCSW preferred.
  • Minimum of five years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.
  • Experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, treatment planning, ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds required.
  • Previous management experience required.
  1. General Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services. Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
  • Travel required.
  1. Special Qualifications:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work professionally in a team with other personnel, patients, families, etc.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the mentally ill, disabled, emotionally upset, varying age populations, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must maintain high levels of personal integrity and willingness to be flexible with work schedule to meet facility needs.
  • Must maintain a safe environment at all times.
  1. Working Conditions:
  1. Environment:
  • Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas.
  1. Location:
  • Works throughout the clinical service areas of the facility (i.e. patient rooms, dining hall, recreation areas, education areas, treatment areas, courtyards, etc.)
  1. Personal Interactions:
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Involved with patients, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, and visitors.
  • Communicates effectively with all facility staff.
  • Maintains liaison with other department staff and supervisors to adequately plan for clinical services/activities and department needs and services.
  1. Hours:
  • May work beyond normal scheduled hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • May be subject to callback during emergency conditions (i.e. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
  1. Risk Exposure to Blood/Body Fluids: Category I
  • Category I Job usually involves contact with patients or patient specimens. Exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimen is possible.
  • Category II Job may expose incumbent occasionally or in emergency situations to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.
  • Category III Job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens. Incumbent does not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as a part of his/her job.
  1. Other Risk Exposure:

Is subject to injury from needle sticks, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to

reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants. Is subject to exposure of infectious waste,

diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be potentially subject to managing the

exposure to hazardous chemicals.
