SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment to support production; perform initial equipment mechanical installation; make minor machine modifications; maintain a preventative maintenance program; and to keep accurate maintenance records while constantly striving in maintaining a goal of zero downtown. This position will also be responsible for performing facility maintenance. This position is employed by an affiliated company of Patriot Rail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.

* Ensures full preventative maintenance compliance, as requested by management.

* Services equipment, such as motors, bearings, pumps, valves, main air compressor, waste and water treatment equipment, blasting equipment, boiler room, auxiliary equipment, paint booth station, cleaning station, mobile equipment and repair shop components.

* Repair and maintain all building structures, roads and pathways on site.

* Communicate and document all potential risk and safety hazards to management in a timely manner.

* Ensures and maintains a safe work environment for all employees, at all times.

* Schedules and works with Contractors on projects or specialty items.

* Facility Maintenance which includes all BRSE properties and yards.

* Helps to manage and decorate trains and properties when the holiday seasons are approaching.

* Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

* General machine rebuild skills required.

* Ability to perform predictive and preventative maintenance.

* Knowledge of industrial facility codes and practices.

* Knowledge of AC motors and variable frequency drives.

* Basic knowledge and ability to use a personal computer.

* Minimal supervision required to make machine modifications after initial assessment and explanation of work required.

* Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

* Wear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety steel-toe boots or safety glasses.

* Complete annual training and pass safety operating rules examination.

* Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.

* Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol.

* Must pass a background screening.

* May require a post-offer medical examination, including a health questionnaire, drug and physical capabilities test.

* Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 80 lbs. May work outside in all weather conditions.

ANTICIPATED PERCENT OF TRAVEL:

10%-50%
