Position Highlights Assist Community Outreach Professional I with lesson preparation, garden activities, food demonstration set up, and miscellaneous tasks as needed. Assist Community Outreach Professional I with providing direct nutrition education and nutrition integrated physical activity lessons in conjunction with PSE efforts. No remote work available, all work will be done in person in Greenlee County.

Applicants would benefit from understanding Trauma-Informed Principles, Community Engagement and from having experience working with diverse populations that have low access to food resources.

Program Location: Greenlee County Cooperative Extension Office, and various sites in Duncan, Arizona, Greenlee County.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assist with SNAP-Ed programs including school and community youth programming. Support will be in the form of assistance with lesson preparation, gardening activities, hands-on workshops, and food demonstrations.
* Development of functioning school, community, and demonstration gardens, with lasting infrastructure to provide education to community members, insuring sustainability.
* Assist with SNAP-Ed summer programming, including but not limited to, Kids' Cooking.
* Support SNAP-Ed contribution to Early Childhood Education programs.
* Minor office work as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Gardening skills
* Organizational skills
* Computer and camera skills
* Be able to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing)
* Demonstrates leadership and ability to work independently under general direction

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3
    years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work
    experience.
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Experience
    working with youth, the public, and volunteers.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
