Position Highlights |
The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering is seeking a full-time Student Support Coordinator I.
This position will work with leadership, faculty and staff to facilitate and create a positive educational environment for academic growth and success. The incumbent will work with academic administrative matters such as registration and class schedule, and assist with administration of programs and initiatives, to support students throughout their experience. This is a fast-paced collaborative work environment that requires attention to detail as well as efficient and effective communication. This position may require evening or weekend hours for event coordination. Duties & Responsibilities |
Program Coordination:
- Support the coordination of
the department's schedule of classes, helping to ensure all classes are accurately scheduled with appropriate room assignments and technology needs to meet all student needs. - Assist the supervisor and Director of Undergraduate Studies to optimize scheduling for accurate, student-centered course offerings.
- Assist
with classroom scheduling by helping to identify and reserve classroom spaces that support student learning, ensuring accessibility, appropriate capacity, and necessary technology. - Support
faculty with specific needs for room capacity and technology to ensure alignment with student-centered teaching methods, creating an optimal environment for student engagement and success. - Help with using the campus scheduling system to determine optimal class
times and days to enhance student enrollment. - Distribute and collect student survey data (e.g., Outstanding Senior survey) to support program assessment and improvement.
Meeting & Event Coordination:
- Coordinate and support academic program events for the department.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and executing events, including but not limited to, convocation, homecoming, and other functions.
- Coordinate
scheduling venues, assisting with event logistics, coordinating with vendors, preparing materials, and being on-site support to ensure successful event execution. - Engage as the primary point of contact for
faculty, staff, and students involved in event participation. - Assist with graduate student workshops
to discuss mentoring topics, e.g., "How to prepare for a defense." - Assist with a
formalized process to provide awareness about available research opportunities to undergraduate students and facilitate direct contact to faculty members.
Administrative Support:
- Assist with gathering, compiling, and organizing academic data to support the departmental undergraduate office, such as student enrollments, obtaining class lists, student GPA, semester and long-term enrollment trends, and comparison with equivalent programs.
- Help with providing relevant data to the department head as needed to
support the evolution of the undergraduate program. - Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate with a diverse student, faculty, and community population.
- Knowledge of FERPA
regulations. - Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to manipulate and analyze data with quick turn-around.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- One year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous experience with University systems (UAccess Student, UAccess Analytics).
- Proficient with using assessment data and data tracking.
- Prior experience working with students.
