Position Summary Information
| Primary Purpose |
The Career Development Coordinator plays a key role within the Career Development Center, advancing its mission by providing comprehensive career exploration and readiness services, with a particular focus on early career students. Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, presentations, and targeted outreach, the Coordinator supports students in developing essential career skills. In addition, the Coordinator serves as a liaison to various areas within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, delivering a range of services including career advising, counseling and coaching, as well as the development and facilitation of career-related programming, orientation initiatives, and student engagement efforts. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
- A Bachelor's Degree with,
- Completion of a minimum of 18 hours towards a Master's Degree in College Student Development, Higher Education or related field.
- Work, internship or practicum experience in career development, advising or first-year programming
- Solid foundation and understanding of counseling/coaching techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and take initiative
- Ability to lead and mentor students
- A demonstrated commitment to student success through program development and delivery
- A passion for working with first/second year and transfer/early college students

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
The
Career Development Center serves all students and alumni pursuing various future professional endeavors. Services include helping students solidify their goals and interests, developing a foundation of career readiness skills, preparing for job or internship interviews, and ensuring valuable connections are made that will help them launch their careers.
The primary focus of the Career Development Coordinator is delivering comprehensive career exploration and career readiness services with specific attention to the needs of early career students through one-on-one career coaching, workshops/presentations, and outreach and programming.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Utilize a variety of tools and self-assessment inventories to provide one-on-one career coaching and follow-up to primarily first and second-year students who are deciding their majors/careers and have foundational conversations regarding career readiness on topics such as resume and cover letter writing, internship search and networking.
- Support all career coaches in offering career development programming and presentations to classes, clubs, Greek organizations, Residence Life, and other student groups and clubs, especially those not connected to an academic college.
- Participate and contribute to the Career Development Center's priority to provide career and professional development support and programs to all students.
- Assist with new student and transfer student orientation offering programming and workshops as needed.
- Teach Career Exploration and College to Career classes on a rotating basis.
- Supervise Career Guides (peer career student advisors) that work in the Career Studio (drop in hours).
- Oversee internal Career Development programming and outreach such as the Look Smart clothing closet and Career Meetups, and student outreach such as newsletters and coaching specific emails.
- Serve on appropriate campus committees.
