Senior Cloud Engineer - Cloud Adoption (Remote)

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

This is a role within First Citizens Bank's Cloud Services team, primarily responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and management of advanced cloud infrastructure solutions in a multi-cloud environment. The Senior Cloud Engineer will provide hands-on support for cloud infrastructure, develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, and assist application teams in cloud adoption efforts.

The Senior Cloud Engineer is tasked with deploying and managing cloud resources while optimizing configurations for security, performance, and cost-effectiveness. This role will also lead the design and deployment of scalable cloud architectures, define best practices for IaC and CI/CD, and mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and leadership skills to guide complex projects, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain technical documentation for knowledge transfer.

• Deploy and manage cloud resources, optimizing configurations for security, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead the design and deployment of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures for critical applications.
• Define and implement best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance and technical leadership on complex projects.
• Engage in research and continuous improvement initiatives to adopt new technologies and best practices.
• Maintain and share technical documentation to support knowledge transfer within the team.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support to ensure the reliability and availability of cloud infrastructure.

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in cloud OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in cloud

• Proficiency with AWS and Azure Cloud Services.
• Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm).
• Strong programming and automation experience (JavaScript, Python).
• Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, ArgoCD).
• Advanced knowledge of cloud and network security architectures.
• Strong CI/CD pipeline integration experience and use of Git for version control.
• Familiarity with Policy as Code tools such as Sentinel and Open Policy Agent.

• Experience: At least 8 years of experience in multi-cloud environments with a focus on infrastructure engineering.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
• Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

If hired in Arizona, the base pay for this position is generally between $139,000 and $188,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
