Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated and high-performing team. As part of the software engineering team, you will support an exciting program which involves design, development, test, and deployment of an exciting and complex system in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders. Responsibilities:

    Transform customer requirements into a technologically advanced, high-performing software architecture within program technical, schedule, and cost constraints supporting our DoD and IC customers Work with emerging service and distributed computing technologies for satellite data processing and distribution as a member of our software development/systems integration teams supporting our DoD and IC customers.
  • Work in a high-performance environment using Agile Software Development processes to support system design, architecture, application deployment, and application maintenance.
  • Perform backlog grooming and sprint planning, developing and reviewing code, updating technical documents, generate unit tests, ensuring code meets requirements through unit testing, and resolving discrepancy reports.
  • Develop, install and configure software components or algorithms in a cloud-based environment/framework.
  • Help automate and streamline processes and pipelines to increase development velocity
  • Work with the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and other scrum team members to ensure successful integration with other software components.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain or maintain a polygraph, if required.
  • Associates degree in Engineering or Computer Technology and 7+ years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Technology and 5+ years of network engineering experience; OR Master's Degree and 3+ years of network engineering experience. However, four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working with Linux-based operating systems, scripting languages for task automation, and system configuration automation software (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc..).
  • Experience with distributed computing technologies and virtualization/ cloud-based technologies (e.g. OpenStack, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare), Docker Containers, Kubernetes, and Heat templates.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices.
  • You have experience working within a software development team environment using Agile/DevSecOps methods and tools including GIT and common IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc...).
  • You can think creatively and operate in a collaborative, fast-paced, process-oriented, deadline-driven and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • You can express yourself confidently, concisely, and accurately through written and oral communications.
  • Must be willing to work in-person and willing/able to obtain the Security+ certification within 6 months of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

  • You have experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into a larger framework.
  • You are familiar with network architectures including IPv4, IPv6, firewalls, TCP/IP (socket) applications, and higher-level protocols such as HTTPS, HTTPS/2, GRPC, etc.
  • You have some experience with modern Java development including Java 11+, Python 3.x and other languages
  • You have some experience with modern testing frameworks such as Junit, Pytest, Citrus, etc.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
