*This is a hybrid position located in either our Mason, OH Headquarters or our Minnetonka, MN location. Must be able to relocate or commute for this role.

**This role will manage a team of HR professionals within the HR Business Partner COE.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner Director is a key business partner leading the team of HR business partners and Talent Development partners, while also assuming direct HR business partner responsibilities for a functional area of the company. In addition to building out the HRBP team's capabilities, they will partner with ELT members to support the achievement of short- and long-term business and department goals. This individual will also be a member of the HR leadership team. This individual must be a strong communicator that can drive alignment with the broader HR function, and ELT Departments to support AtriCure's strategies.

This is a highly valued, high-impact position. As an integral link between executive leadership departments, and other members of the global HR function, their key responsibilities will be to:



  • Lead a team of strategic HR Business Partners by building HRBP internal capabilities
  • Lead broad-scale talent development work, including employee engagement surveys and action planning
  • Provide leadership for talent strategies within their areas of responsibility
  • Provide strategic direction to build upon our DE&I action plans
  • Design strategic initiatives to ensure organizational effectiveness
  • Effectively lead the organization through periods of change and growth
  • Play an important role as a participating member of the HR Leadership Team, continuing to foster a high-performing, highly collaborative, and inclusive HR team atmosphere, mentor more junior HR professionals as appropriate, and be personally invested in growing our HR successor pools



In addition, this dynamic, results-oriented leader will create proactive plans and will partner with HR COEs and all aspects of HR to ensure the effective execution of programs and initiatives in talent acquisition, culture change, diversity and inclusion, performance management, talent management, and development, employee relations, total rewards, and recognition, change management, and organization effectiveness.

The role will report to the VP HR. They will also participate in select company-wide initiatives, representing departments, HR functions, and the broader AtriCure organization. The successful incumbent will be fully accountable for the effective implementation and continued harmonization of HR-related processes, practices, policies, and outcomes for the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Change Management / Organization Leadership:



  • Partners with leadership to develop and implement strategies to take the business to the next level. Working with HR COEs to ensure leadership for workforce planning, acquisitions, organization changes and re-alignments, and HR-related technologies.
  • As needed, partner with department leaders to help design change strategies that build upon our high-performance, innovative culture.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the business, products, markets, and competitors, and serve as a key business partner and change agent.
  • Drive change management to ensure a continuous learning and growing organization.



Organization Effectiveness / Organization Development / Organization Design:



  • Assist functional leaders in ensuring effective organization structure, communication, problem analysis, and resolution.
  • Suggest and implement activities to build a common focus and united team approach within each group in the organization.
  • Partner with management to ensure effective organization structure, design, and staffing models.
  • Ensure effective utilization and alignment of human resources with business needs.


  • Provide counsel in the design and implementation of new organizational structures and processes, in line with organizational capability requirements, to help increase overall organization effectiveness and customer satisfaction.


  • Partner with clients to implement regular Talent Reviews, Organization Reviews, Career Development Planning, Performance Reviews, Workforce Planning, Organization Health assessments, surveys, etc.



Talent Acquisition:



  • Partner with the COE Talent Acquisition Team to identify critical talent and build organizational capabilities by supporting strategies to recruit and fill open positions and future talent needs with superior talent, while ensuring a diverse interview panel and diversity of talent for each open position.
  • Support department leaders in effectively identifying and planning for future talent needs and continually upgrading the talent we bring into the organization.
  • Work to build internal bench strength in client organizations so that we have -the right talent, at the right place, at the right time.
  • Support the new grad hire, intern, and co-op programs through close partnership with the Talent Acquisition Co-op / Intern team.


Employee Relations & Communications:



  • Partner with the COE Employee Relations hub and leadership to anticipate, identify and facilitate the resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Act as an internal consultant, identifying and partnering with others as appropriate, in addressing issues (eg. employee morale, interpersonal issues, turnover, work conditions, etc.).
  • Counsel VPs, directors, and managers consistent with AtriCure policies/practices, legal considerations, and company priorities-advocating both company and employee concerns.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of relevant legislative requirements and ensure AtriCure's employment practices are compliant.
  • Partner with leaders and communications function to ensure effective internal and external communications for their organizations.



Training, Development and Performance Management/Leadership:



  • Partner with the COE Training & Development Team to lead and implement the employee and leadership development strategy within their assigned departments.
  • Consult with VP's, directors, and managers on training and development needs within their assigned departments.
  • Ensure successful training delivery of the management and employee development curriculums.
  • Develop strategies to identify targeted development needs within their departments and improve opportunities to deliver training.
  • Ensure that departments and HR direct reports have clear expectations and receive regular informal performance feedback along with cycle-driven formal feedback.



Total Rewards Management:



  • Partner with the COE to effectively implement and communicate AtriCure compensation and benefits programs to successfully attract, motivate and retain employees.
  • Effectively partner with AtriCure Total Rewards and AtriCure compensation and benefits resources in these activities. Assist in identifying and developing innovative incentive/reward systems which address the unique needs of their client organizations.
  • Ensure clear differentiation of performance in rewards and recognition.



Other:



  • Participate in benchmarking and best practices research as it applies to AtriCure business overall.
  • Provide leadership and/or serve as representation on corporate and/or divisional committees or task forces.


  • Manage/participate in key projects and initiatives as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 15+ years of experience in Human Resources, primarily as an HR Business Partner
  • Experience managing a team, providing work direction and leadership
  • Experience partnering with executive leaders on strategic projects (one or more of the following required: global growth, organizational design, M&A/integration)
  • Results orientation - can meet goals consistently and go beyond them. Demonstrates a high sense of urgency and is comfortable managing multiple projects in a high-growth environment.
  • Change Management - able to define a case for change and influence others to change - and at higher levels -- fully engage entire organizations in fundamental change through effective communication strategies.
  • Strategic Orientation - able to think beyond own area and apply critical thinking, incorporating both analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Customer Focus - able to identify internal and external customer needs, looking from the outside in. Able to build relationships with the customer and provide services for which the customer might not yet even have identified a need.
  • Collaborative - effective working with and through teams to accomplish business results.
  • Team Leadership - Able to focus, align, and build effective groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Travel up to 10-20%



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's Degree in Business, I/O Psychology or Human Resources
  • Successful track record as an HR Director.
  • Previous HR leadership roles in a high-growth, fast-paced business.
  • Experience in HR strategy development and execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing large-scale change initiatives.
  • Experience in a global, matrix management structure.
  • Knowledge of immigration practices, H1-B visa, and other work visas.
  • Computer skills in HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce preferred), database, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software.
  • Facilitation skills - group and individual, training, team development, conflict resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law
  • GPHR and / or SPHR certification.
  • Experience in multiple companies and / or varied geographic locations.
  • Experience in a medical device or related healthcare industry
  • Experience supporting a global manufacturing operation



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. The employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers.
