This is a one (1) year 100% Contract position. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs and funding of the department. The D-ENTERPRISE (Diversifying & Engaging the Navy through Technical Education & Recruitment Partnerships for Research Innovations in Science & Engineering) program is focused on engaging and supporting undergraduate and graduate BIPOC students in oceanographic science and engineering, particularly through mentorship, career exposure and counseling, and unique research experiences. The program will focus on providing access to a wide array of Navy relevant ocean science careers, including opportunities for paid internships with the Navy. POSITION DESCRIPTIONReporting under the Director of Diversity Initiatives, the D-ENTERPRISE Program Manager is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the D-ENTERPRISE and EDI summer student program, including facilitating and maintaining consistent communication among partner institutions and key Navy partners; planning and coordinating workshops including the kickoff workshop, mentoring workshop, and an annual conference; creating a sustained mentoring framework for students; and facilitating the evaluation of the program. Serves as the primary point of contact and works both independently and with key partners to develop and implement the program. The Program Manager collaborates closely with academic and Navy partners to establish lasting relationships and align research and scientific support for stakeholder needs. Contributes to communications planning and is responsible for the program and project reporting on an iterative basis. Designs and implements events, training and workshops involving scientists and students. Acts as a liaison and resource for grant proposal development and administrative interface with the various development and business management office staff at partner institutions. The Program Manager is also responsible for supporting and coordinating the D-ENTERPRISE summer internship program hosted at Scripps and partner institutions. In collaboration with partner faculty, assists in the recruitment of student participants, development and coordination of internship programming, cultivation of support network of faculty and naval mentors, develop program budget and monitor expenditures. Cultivates a sense of community for the D-ENTERPRISE students interning on the Scripps campus and also provides administrative and logistical support to the Director of Diversity Initiatives' efforts to develop and implement a cohort-based summer experience for underrepresented students participating in the broad variety of summer programs available on the Scripps campus. Support may include but is not limited to, organizing social events, professional development workshops, and affinity-based gatherings that connect the D-ENTERPRISE students with other students interning at Scripps, and if applicable, on the UCSD campus (i.e. students participating in UC-HBCU, STARS, etc. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $40.90 - $75.10 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
