Our OSI Electronics division is a diversified manufacturer of electronic devices and value-added manufacturing services for use in a broad range of applications, including aerospace and defense electronics, security and inspection systems, and medical monitoring and diagnostics.

OSI Electronics is seeking a Receiving Inspection Lead. This individual will lead and direct activities of the receiving inspection team. They will develop the team through monitoring results, appraising performance, disciplining, mentoring, training, and coaching. They will also perform Lead activities in accordance with personnel policies, procedures, and applicable laws. This individual will plan and direct the activities related to the in-process inspection functions in a manner which meets company standards and methods as determined by quality assurance or other engineering departments. Outlines and implements training procedures of employees for the inspection operation including drawings, prints, schematics and quality assurance standards. Additionally, they will assure smooth operating of the inspection unit, maintaining daily records and reports. This individual will coordinate the disposition of rejected materials.


Responsibilities

  • Review information provided with production parts/materials for compliance with work orders. Work with manufacturing personnel to produce a variety of Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Through Hole Technology (THT) PCB assemblies and box builds to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Ensures product conformity to IPC specifications & quality standards (AS9100, ISO9001 and ISO 13485).
  • Coordinate with QA, production, stockroom to resolve defective parts in a timely manner (MRB, RMA, RTV, rework & repairs).
  • Perform First Article review as needed, including visual inspection and measurement, of raw materials, components, and assemblies. Document evidence of conformity/nonconformity, creating reports with this data).
  • Leads day-to-day activity for quality inspectors including monitoring attendance, identifying training needs, compliance with company rules and personnel actions.
  • Process & communicate NCRs internally.
  • Train, develop and provide direction to personnel.
  • Establish/ revise inspection procedures as needed to ensure efficiency and quality.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing inspection work in a production environment. Previous experience in a lead role a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of techniques for assuring product quality and a keen attention to detail.
  • Fluency with fractions, decimals, angles, dates and percentages, and AQL sample size determination.
  • Ability to read drawings\blueprints and drawing dimensional callouts and identify associated inspection techniques
  • Competence with measuring tools (e.g. microscopes, calipers, pin gage, digital multi-meter)
  • Ability to pass a vision exam, meeting the requirements of Snellen 14/18 (20/30) or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally effectively communicate in the business language (English).
  • Working knowledge of computer basic skills and Microsoft Office. Manufacturing inventory software knowledge, a plus.
