The Production Planning Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and expediting plant production processes to assure coordinated manufacturing, machine utilization, and delivery of customer orders on requested due dates.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Coordinate and manage the plant production schedule and balance customer needs with plant/machine production to optimize the effective utilization of workforce, materials and machinery. Communicates production planning status on a daily basis to customer service, sales, and plant production personnel.

Prioritize work orders and assure an even flow of work through all the departments to increase up-time and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Manage yield optimization through minimizing side trim, upgrades, and other scheduling costs while maximizing throughput.

Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, make recommendations for process and equipment improvement, and establish and execute goals.

Provide guidance to the plant scheduling function including updating production schedules, entering orders, creating backlog report, checking corrugator run sheets versus soft copies, printing load tags for orders, and addressing potential problems in meeting the schedule and recommend solutions.

Oversee the timely delivery arrivals and schedules of roll stock to ensure adequate supply for production without exceeding warehouse capacity as well as transport of baled waste without incurring excessive demurrage costs.

Conduct immediate entry of daily roll stock receipts and printing of roll tags for warehousing the roll in preparation for scheduling corrugator runs.

Ensure accurate reporting in regards to daily roll stock consumption, roll stock receipt, complaints or damage, waste reporting, waste cost, and roll stock matrix.

Manage warehouse inventories including handling aging roll stock, improving roll stock mix, and recommending purchases.

Participate in production meeting and provide updates as needed.

Reconcile with design team to receive raw data and interface it to the corrugator and production analysis menu. Provide feedback to design team to estimate resources associated with new design production.

Identify staffing needs, hire competent individuals, conduct employee trainings, oversee employee performance, and manage any disciplinary or termination situations.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree required.

Five (5) years' experience in production scheduling in a manufacturing environment preferably in the corrugated industry with a direct experience with corrugator trimming.

Previous experience with inventory management required.

Established knowledge of corrugated packaging design and manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes, freight restrictions, and safety practices.

Working knowledge of computer systems including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Corr-Trim software and other manufacturing systems including shop floor software.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Degree in business, accounting, or engineering.

Previous experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.

Strong analytical, mechanical and mathematical skills with the ability to see and establish patterns.

Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, practices, and requests for information.

Strong listening, evaluating, and problem solving skills. Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management.

Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members.
