The primary function of the Physician employed by Northeast Medical Group Urgent Care and Walk -In Centers is to provide primary and episodic high quality medical care to adults and children at the Centers. The Physician leads the caregivers and administrative support staff to perform assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Northeast Medical Group, support our mission,
vision and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent, and non-emergent presentation
  • 2. Select, order, perform and interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient condition and augment physical findings
  • 3. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness or injury
  • 4. Perform procedures including laceration repair, orthopedics, and provide referrals to medical specialists
  • 5. Explain procedures and discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients
  • 6. Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes
  • 7. Provides clinical information and education to patients and families
  • 8. Promotes health education in conjunction with other health professionals
  • 9. Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete
  • 10. Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding and CPT code assignment
  • 11. Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures and management of patient-care-related activities
  • 12. Bill for appropriate procedures/ supplies under the billable condition for which it was performed.
  • 13. Provides on-call coverage
  • 14. Contributes to quality improvement activities by actively participating in the medical staff activities, serving on committees, and suggesting and supporting process improvements
  • 15. Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures and federal and
    state laws.
  • 16. Immediately reports any concerns about facility patient safety to Medical Director.
  • 17. REQUIRED PROCEDURIAL COMPETENCIES:
    • 17.1 Suturing: simple skin suturing (interrupted), referral is acceptable for deep/contaminated wounds or wounds which require internal closure.
  • 18. All the above are the minimum requirements set forth for walk-in centers. Time-outs to be performed and consent should be obtained along with documentation of the procedure in the note.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Degree of M.D. or DO with ABIM or ABFM recognized residency. Valid American Board certification in either Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of one year of experience as a practicing physician.

LICENSURE

Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license. ACLS certification. Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate

SPECIAL SKILLS

Understanding of medical coding and billing. Knowledge of JCAHO accreditation requirements and state and federal regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, blood borne pathogens , and others Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email, Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record. Ability to supervise, train and evaluate new and current staff.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged.
