POSITION SUMMARY:

The RT Clinical Team Leader provides patient centered, specialized, evidence based respiratory care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida Board of Respiratory Care and JHACH policy. Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes which meet the high quality of care provided by JHACH. The professional practice of Respirattory Therapy at JHACH involves the promotion of a culture of innovation and a commitment to academic growth and professional development.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Utilizes evidence based practice and unit specific competences to assesses the physical condition and respiratory needs of patients and develop a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the interprofessional team

Monitors compliance with standards of care by observation, verbal reports, audits and written documentation, provides feedback to staff, educators, managers and senior director.

Actively participates in multidisciplinary rounds each day and ensures other team members are active participants

Plans for the total care needs of the patient in collaboration with the inter-professional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes

Demonstrates clinical expertise in provision of care in the clinical specialty of assigned unit with the ability to perform all functions of the professional respiratory therapist (RT) that are age appropriate and culturally specific in order to maintain balance within the unit

Provides consultation and maintains positive relationships with physicians and other inter-professional team members, collaborating to problem solve and improve patient care

Collaborates on unit schedules, monitors staffing levels each shift and provides input to the Clinical Manager and Director in budget preparation/monitoring and in the identification of workload variability to predict and plan for appropriate staffing to enhance productivity/efficiency while maintaining quality care

Identifies ways to improve the patient's experience, streamline care processes and lower costs while improving patient, family and staff satisfaction

Maintains a work environment that is highly supportive of a professional role to retain expert respiratory therapists.

Demonstrates the ability to reduce as well as manage risks to reduce and or prevent crises

Performs skillfully in life threatening emergencies including matching demands and resources during crises situations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree Required

Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure, current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Graduate of a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission on Accredidation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

3 years of neonatal/pediatric critical intensive care experience

Current BLS/PALS certification from the American Heart Association

Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Current Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within one year of hire

Salary Range: Minimum 32.71 per hour - Maximum 52.34 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
