MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the
COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. Arthur Graduate School promotes a collegial and stimulating environment that encourages intellectual collaboration and professional development through education, research, creative activities, and service.
The Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School of Business is a leader in graduate business education. We offer flexible and customized degree and certification programs, along with innovative cocurricular and extracurricular programs to meet the needs of today's learners. The Graduate Programs Office is within the Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School of Business and is responsible to the Director of Graduate Programs and the Associate Dean of the College of Business for the administration of the College's graduate degree programs within the College of Business. We currently enroll approximately 800
MBA and 85
MSA students in our programs. |
Job Duties |
The Assistant Director is an integral part of the Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School of Business team and is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of effective academic advising, recruitment, and retention programs for the Arthur School and the College of Business.
This position performs the following duties:
Student Advising (30%): The Assistant Director provides front line support for advising and assisting with class scheduling for current and entering graduate business students. These duties include monitoring student progress towards graduation, keeping current students informed concerning program activities and requirements and other general student contact.
Student Recruitment and Retention (20%): The Assistant Director assists with student recruitment and retention actives including responding to inquiries, planning and participation in graduate fairs and similar activities, relationship management and other activities as appropriate. Some travel is required.
Event Planning (10%): The Assistant Director assists with the preparation and execution of events related to our core strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, our Immersive
MBA program, our Emerging Leader Experience, our Arthur Teaching Fellows, our Leaders in Residence Program, and our Entrepreneurship through Acquisition for Transitioning Military Personnel Pathway.
Program Monitoring and Evaluation (10%): The Assistant Director assists with the preparation, evaluation, and dissemination of data pertaining to the program, including preparation of reports, statistical analysis, and interpretation of survey instruments. These reports are an essential aspect of program evaluation and our continuous improvement process.
Student Development (10%): The Assistant Director assists with the planning and execution of student development programs and activities that are academic or co-curricular in nature.
Communications (10%): The Assistant Director takes a comprehensive approach to communicating with various stakeholders. This includes establishing and maintaining program contact and tracking alumni.
Other Duties as Assigned (10%): The Assistant Director participates in various graduate student life activities and represents the College of Business on appropriate College and University committees.

Minimum Education/Experience |
The Assistant Director must have a master's degree in a closely related discipline (counseling, adult education, educational leadership, business administration, public administration, psychology, or higher education administration) with a minimum of three (3) years counseling and/or advising and program development experience. |
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation |

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
- A history of successfully executing priorities without constant direct supervision
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a business environment
- Leadership experience in academic advising, counseling, or relationship management in an institution of higher education is strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills
- Experience in working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
