The Opportunity: We are seeking a full time Consumer Loan Underwriter to join our team. This role will perform all duties related to the underwriting of consumer loans, including Home Equity. Underwrite loan applications to render decisions and communicate required information to appropriate individuals. Serve as a resource for members and branch personnel on underwriting and compliance questions. Coordinate loan closings and stipulate required documentation.
What You'll Do:

  • Utilize systems in place to underwrite files in a timely manner.
  • Meet expected service levels related to decision and condition clearing.
  • Update information on automated underwriting system.
  • Provide superior customer service on all consumer loan products.
  • Identify and pursue cross servicing opportunities, while communicating with members.
  • Respond to consumer lending phone inquiries.
  • Coordinate loan closings.
  • Maintain knowledge of DFCU policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of Consumer Compliance Regulations.
  • Maintain pending loan files.
  • Assist management as required.
  • Work varied day shifts on a rotating basis; Saturday hours may be required.

What You'll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years consumer loan underwriting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability for high attention to detail.
  • Ability to make immediate decisions.
  • Computer literate.
  • Demonstrated financial institution product and service knowledge.
  • Consistent positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude.
  • Ability to verbally communicate appropriately with others, and appropriately respond to a supervisor.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to act maturely in high-volume pressure situations.
