DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Engineering Specialist, you will operate under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer, engaging in a diverse range of responsibilities associated with continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS). Your role will encompass supporting the certification and auditing processes of CEMS, analyzing emissions reports generated by these systems, and contributing to the development and enhancement of the CEM Data Processing System Application. Additionally, your responsibilities will extend to conducting technical and engineering evaluations of testing protocols, observing and assessing performance tests executed by facility operators, and liaising with company representatives to discuss monitoring strategies, testing requirements, results, and emissions data. You will also be involved in public meetings alongside company officials to address Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regulations, policies, and procedures. This position will require occasional travel for the purpose of observing performance tests, conducting field audits, attending meetings, and participating in conferences.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are negotiable between 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,678 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the training program for Environmental Engineering Trainee; or
- Two years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering.
- Graduate study in environmental engineering or in a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
