THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A County Social Worker 1 conducts assessments of independent living needs and develops living case plans for an assigned client base. This will include applying resources for educational and vocational training, basic living skills, and conducting workshops that promote self-confidence and transitional skills for independent living. Strong communication skills are necessary for client interaction as well as the coordination of necessary services within the agency and community resources. This position also prepares reports, provides agency and provider staff training, and actively participates in meetings and court case reviews. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved graduate school with a master's degree in social work.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
