Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position will play a critical role in managing accounts payable and job costing functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and contributing to the overall efficiency of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to maintain seamless financial processes.



Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

    Process and verify invoices, ensuring proper coding, authorization, and adherence to company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records, including payment terms and contact information.
  • Manage the accounts payable aging report and ensure timely payment to vendors.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to address invoice issues or payment inquiries.
  • Ability to assist and enforce the Purchase Order Process.

Job Costing

  • Assign costs to specific jobs, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation.
  • Review and reconcile job cost reports to support project managers and operational teams.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide insights to management for financial decision-making.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic job cost analyses and forecasting.
  • Support project closeout processes by verifying and finalizing all job-related financials.

General Accounting Support

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes such as account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support audits and financial reviews.
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable and job costing functions.
  • Assist with Ad Hoc requests as needed.


Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable and/or job costing, preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the construction, development, or related industry is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to learn and understand Percentage of Completion Method
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas).
