AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. in 2019, the co-op launched it Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Utilize standard reports and develop additional reports as needed to monitor costs and performance against budget
  4. Ensure financial transactions are completed daily on an accurate basis, including but not limited to production, inventory, shipping, accounts payable, patron milk and other bulk dairy liquid transactions.
  5. Review and submit month end summaries and reconciliations to the corporate office within assigned deadlines.
  6. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  7. Ensure employees are cross trained on accounting and reporting functions and processes.
  8. Continuous improvement for cost saving programs and improvements with knowledge and ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures to increase efficiency and improve AMPI's bottom line.
  9. Coordinate with production management in developing and maintaining Bill of Materials and costs.
  10. Monitor weekly - monthly expenses.
  11. Assist with calculations involving capital expenditures and payback analysis.
  12. Assist with physical inventory(s).
  13. Coordinate inventory valuation of all products and supplies.
  14. Coordinate profit improvement justification - productivity tracking.
  15. Analyze internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported.
  16. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures including purchasing, record retention, credit card, signature authority and fixed assets.
  17. Prepare purchase orders for properly requisitioned items.
  18. Coordinate with corporate purchasing department for purchasing of supplies, packaging and other items with company-wide pricing.
  19. Safeguards confidentiality of company information.
  20. Follows Good Manufacturing Practices and supports Food Safety Practices.
  21. Coordinate the accountability of milk and reconcile weights and tests of all incoming milk, condensed skim milk, and WPC.
  22. Invoice, reconcile and journalize sales of milk and bulk dairy liquids to outside vendors.,
  23. Assist division manager with annual budget preparation. Runs necessary financial reports to compare to budget.
  24. Creates statistical reports (KPI's) for weekly and monthly review by leadership team.
  25. Serves as liaison to corporate IT department regarding computer hardware, software applications and equipment needs.
  26. Maintains professional and technical knowledge in areas of responsibility by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, researching topics, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  27. Responsible for minutes taken at various meetings.
  28. Inspect, review and follow up on plant and department audits.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Three to five years relevant work experience.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience.
