SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Learning Experience Designer responsible for crafting innovative and user-centric learning experiences that prioritize learner engagement and usability. This role blends design thinking, technology, and instructional strategies to create impactful and memorable learning journeys. Resulting in team member skill development and business results.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Work in tandem with subject matter experts and stakeholders to co-create innovative experiences that align business goals and learner needs while identifying and prioritizing key learning objectives
  • Apply agile methodologies or iterative design principles to adapt learning solutions to evolving business and learner needs.
  • Leverage design thinking principles to meet the needs of the modern workplace and provide creative and effective learning solutions.
  • Write effective design documents and course materials such as storyboards and instructor-led educational guides and use creative solutions for effective learning such as interactions, scenarios, or simulations.
  • Incorporate immersive and interactive experiences such as video, simulations, gamification, AR/VR, and in-person facilitation into learning design strategies.
  • Focus on the learner journey and user experience (UX) by integrating accessibility and inclusivity principles.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret learning analytics to inform design improvements, optimize learner outcomes, and demonstrate return on investment (ROI).
  • Partner with vendors to develop learner-centric and engaging educational materials.
  • Employ technology and innovative strategies to construct educational content that's informative, interactive, and enjoyable
  • Continuously research and incorporate the latest learning trends, tools, and technologies to enhance learner engagement and impact.
  • Manage course development projects including timeline, resources, and budget.
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, related field or equivalent experience. Minimum four years' experience designing and developing learner-centric experiences, leveraging design thinking, adult learning theories, and emerging technologies.
  • Minimum three years' experience managing multiple learning design projects simultaneously, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency with prototyping tools (e.g., Adobe XD, Figma), learning development software (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate), and multimedia tools (e.g., Camtasia, Vyond).
  • Experience incorporating learner data and analytics to iterate and enhance the effectiveness of learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with various leadership levels and work styles
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Shown ability to consistently meet deadlines and produce high quality work
  • Creative problem-solving abilities, with a learner-first mindset to design engaging and impactful experiences.

The base pay range for this role is $74,600 - $111,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
