Laboratory Technician - Swing shift
needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in Decatur, IL.

This position is for a major food processing company
and is looking for candidates with a laboratory experience.

Schedule: *Schedule is subject to change*

Sunday & Monday 12am-12pm

Tuesday OFF

Wednesday & Thursday 12pm-12am

*Swing shift techs will start the week Sunday night at midnight. This schedule will change to include rotating weekends as production rates increase.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare process and finished product samples; perform analytical testing using instrumental, wet chemistry procedures, and record results using computerized data systems.
• Performs daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant as assigned.
• Maintains samples of tested product to confirm test results, if necessary.
• Documents results of all testing procedures and promptly notifies operations of required adjustments.
• Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Understands most production processes required in the production of product and may make recommendations to operators to achieve product quality.
• Performs light maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipment.
• Maintains on-going records of the results of all testing procedures and inputs such data into computer daily.
• Maintains adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies.
• Continually compares equipment readouts with samples of standards as required to ensure that all systems are operating accurately.
• Always maintains a neat and clean working area, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areas.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements.
• Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines.

• High School Diploma or GED required, Associates in an applied science preferred
• Preferred analytical laboratory experience
• Position requires basic computer operation skills, i.e., use of point and click programs, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote), and different software programs for the instruments.
• Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time while performing job duties.
• Must be capable of working from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly (ex. Moving a gas cylinder).
• Must be able to handle dangerous chemicals in a safe manner
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
