This position is challenged to present material in a non-biased manner, and deal with the public's expectation of childbirth, which may not be able to be met. The instructor has the authority to find own substitute instructor according to policy instructions. The instructor can modify class sequence if he/she assesses that the modification is in the group's best interest. The instructor needs to inform Maternal Child Management or the Department Secretary of changes in the sequence of class content so participants specifically scheduled for individual parts of series can be notified and rescheduled. Maternal Child Management will oversee and approve all class content prior to finalization. Decisions that are referred to Maternal Child Management staff are: decisions affecting anticipated legal problems, difficulties with cooperation between the position and another department or person, etc., any change in class or routine, and any unusual circumstances not included in established hospital policy. Classes are currently offered in the following areas: child birth preparation series, refresher mini-session, sibling, breast feeding, teen pregnancy, infant care, mom's support club and prenatal exercise. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial and safety appropriate to the neonate, infant, child, adolescent and adult patient population. This position does not provide patient care.
