The Individual Child Aide - School Age Program, will foster a safe and supportive environment in the After-School program for children with learning, emotional, or behavioral challenges. The role focuses on providing individualized support to help these children successfully integrate into the program. This is a part time position - up to 19.5 hours weekly.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Offer one-on-one support to children aged 5-13 with special emotional or learning needs within the after-school program.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children through effective relationship-building techniques.
  • Assist in the child's involvement in all program routines, including peer interactions and group activities.
  • Follow the guidance of their supervisor regarding child behavior management.
  • Implement recommended interventions, using sensory and emotional support tools, and respond appropriately to the child's behaviors.
  • Observe and provide feedback on the effectiveness of interventions to support the child's self-regulation.
  • Ensure the child's safety at all times, manage unsafe behaviors, and report concerns to the Site Manager.
  • Communicate with parents at the end of the shift, as needed, in coordination with the Site Manager.
  • Report any concerns to the School Age Inclusion Specialist.
  • Collaborate professionally with School Age and clinical staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with school-age children in an educational or childcare setting is required.
  • Preferred experience with children who have behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges.
  • Ability to engage and connect positively with individual children.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions.
  • Completion of BRC to obtain suitability confirmation is required.
  • Recent physical exam and proof of MMR vaccination are required.
  • Language skills in Spanish, Swahili, or Portuguese are a plus.
  • Availability from 2-6 PM on most weekdays is essential.
