Technical Program Manager

UCSF is seeking a dedicated and experienced Technical Program Manager to support our Digital Accessibility Program. The Technical Program Manager will act as the project and process manager for all Digital Accessibility Program operations and initiatives, supporting the Digital Accessibility Program Manager and staff to ensure that our digital assets meet the highest standards and best practices for accessibility. This pivotal role involves managing a defined communication plan, intake, inventory, reporting, and risk management, as well as managing the processes and execution of remediation and mitigation for the UCSF Digital Accessibility Program.
Scope of Responsibility:
1. Project and Process Management:
- Oversee and manage multiple projects and initiatives for the Digital Accessibility Program.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables ensuring they align with program and institutional goals.
- Facilitate project kick-offs, status meetings, and project reviews.
2. Communication Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding digital accessibility projects.
- Implement communication strategies to promote awareness and compliance with digital accessibility standards across UCSF.
- Prepare and present regular updates and reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
3. Intake and Inventory Management:
- Manage the intake process for digital accessibility requests and issues, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Maintain an inventory of all digital assets, tracking their accessibility status and prioritizing remediation efforts.
4. Reporting and Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain reporting systems to track the progress of digital accessibility initiatives and compliance.
- Manage risks related to digital accessibility, ensuring they are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
5. Remediation and Mitigation:
- Coordinate remediation efforts for digital content, applications, and systems that do not meet accessibility standards.
- Work closely with IT, web and application development, and content teams to ensure accessibility issues are mitigated effectively.
- Provide guidance and support for the implementation of accessibility best practices.
6. Collaboration and Training:
- Collaborate with the Digital Accessibility Program Manager and other team members to manage the development and delivery of training programs on digital accessibility, with an emphasis on roles and responsibilities of content owners
- Organize the creation of resources and documentation to educate staff and faculty on accessibility standards and practices.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $96,500 - $172,900 (Annual Rate). This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Digital and Web Solutions and works directly with the Digital Accessibility Program team along with the Web Services and Developer Experience teams. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project or program management, preferably in a technical or digital environment.
- Experience managing compliance in a higher education or healthcare environment
- Experience with risk management and reporting tools.
- Requires effective communication and organization skills.
- Proven leadership ability. Effective problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments.
- Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress.
- Familiarity with digital accessibility evaluation tools and techniques.
- Requires ability to assess needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs.
- Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.
- Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.
- Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.
- Demonstrated advanced organization and project management skills.
- Demonstrated effective writing skills, including tailoring communications for a diversity of audience, including leadership, customers, and technologists.
- Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques.
- Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, ScrumMaster)
- Knowledge of most aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery.
- Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508) and best practices.
