Sr. Software Engineer III - Lidar Focus

This position reports to the Discipline Leader II and is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of remote sensing systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in embedded systems, firmware development, Lidar, point cloud processing, and data acquisition systems. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with other programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.

As a Sr. Software Engineer III - Lidar Focus at Woolpert, you will:

Design, develop, and maintain software for lidar systems, focusing on embedded systems and firmware.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
• Implement and optimize data acquisition algorithms to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
• Develop and maintain software tools for testing, calibration, and validation of lidar systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, ensuring system stability and performance.
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in lidar technology and software development practices.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience, focusing on embedded systems and firmware.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
• Proven track record of developing and optimizing data acquisition systems.
• Familiarity with lidar technology and sensor integration.
• Knowledge of signal processing and machine learning techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be able to travel up to 15%.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• 10 + years of software development experience, focusing on embedded systems and firmware.
• Experience with other programming languages such as Python and MATLAB preferred.
