Position Title: Material Area Supervisor

Location: Onsite. Trenton, MI.


The Material area supervisor will be responsible for managing small work teams in a unionized, warehousing environment. Responsible for ensuring team safety; building teams and training / allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale.

Required Qualifications:



  • 100% Onsite. Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or relevant bachelor's degree and comparable experience
  • 2+ years' experience in Supply Chain Management or similar functions


Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:



  • Coordinating all activities to achieve business metrics.
  • Provide a safe, secure, and engaging work environment that fosters team member involvement and creativity.
  • Embrace and practice OEM Leadership Principles.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and training to associates as needed.
  • Analyze root causes and execute countermeasures for daily work challenges while implementing safe work practices and preventative countermeasures.
  • Utilize kaizen activities to drive continuous process improvements.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety with team members, peers, and senior management.
  • Monitor and track parts receipts and deliveries.
  • Record and manage in system requirements that communicate with the Assembly plants.
  • Ensure the shipping plan is met, analyzes issues with other roles, drives and implements continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure a safe workplace, leads the Team to improve Safety in the area and enforces the use of mandated Safety tools and procedures.
  • Ensure the right allocation of the people on the job, manage absenteeism, trains and build teams.
  • Actively participate and lead kaizen project activities centered on Safety, Cost, Quality and Throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities identified through cost deployment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as required
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
