Primary Purpose Assists in the design, implementation and maintenance of data center infrastructure to meet the dynamic needs of the Sempra U.S. Gas & Power business units. Responsibility for system optimization, maintenance (preventive and reactive), data backup/recovery of all Sempra U.S. Gas & Power's enterprise windows servers. Ensures data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and capacity requirements for all production, QA and development servers through creation and monitoring of system standards, policies and procedures. Interfaces with IT staff and business unit clients of varying technical expertise in a dynamic and complex environment. Provides technical leadership in an ongoing adoption of hybrid cloud services as well as supporting the operations of an existing highly virtualized data centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides enterprise server support and troubleshoots issues related to the O/S and platform environments (primarily VMWare and Windows Server 2008/2012).
- Facilitates rapid and effective resolution of issues and requests.
- Ensures that technology platforms and procedures remain current and compliant with IT standards and policies.
- Maintains awareness of industry trends and issues with hardware, operating systems, networking, security, and any relevant new technologies and frameworks.
- Coordinates technical support with vendors when necessary.
- Supports service request, incident resolution and change management processes of IT.
- Participates in an on-call rotation schedule with teammates to provide 24/7 systems support.
- Provides technical leadership on small projects from inception to deployment.
- Develops and monitors statistics and metrics to measure operational efficiencies and utilization trends of data center operations.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years work experience in a medium to large enterprise running on VMWare, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Exchange/Lync
- Experience implementing and managing storage technologies including 3PAR, DataDomain, CommVault, etc.
- Track record of working well with varying level of clients, vendors and technical analysts in high pressure situations and complex environment using effective change management.
- Experience with the backup/restore activities across storage networks including disaster recovery configurations.
- In-depth understanding of the Windows Server platform.
- Active Directory administration and maintenance.
- Skill in monitoring production environment using various system tools (Microsoft System Center, Solarwinds, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent teamwork skills in an enterprise backup environment.
- Foundational knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management.
- PowerShell scripting knowledge in support of task automation.
- SMTP/Exchange mail flow and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience with cloud infrastructure environments such as Azure or AWS.
- Working knowledge of SaaS cloud platforms including Office 365, etc.
- Familiarity with application container configuration (Docker, Rocket, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of Change Management and its effects on ensuring business continuity.
- Ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Or equivalent experience.
- Bilingual - (English/Spanish) speaker a plus.
- Microsoft and VMWare certification.
- Storage, Networking, Citrix and Cloud certifications.
HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite.
