Finance Administration Job Summary

The Financial Systems Administrator ("Administrator") oversees the day to day operations of Denver Health's core financial planning system which is utilized for Budgeting, Financial Planning, Forecasting, Productivity, and Financial Reporting/Decision Support.
The Administrator manages and optimizes standard work processes and system utilization to achieve maximum value of system while promptly resolving high-level issues. The incumbent works closely with all finance functions including FP&A, business development, accounting, reimbursement, and other key departmental leaders.
Key contributor to planning and execution plans on annual and monthly operational performance reporting processes. Key liaison and point of contact to technology/IT/Applications team for coordination of resources and technical system support. Collaboration and alignment with revenue cycle and reimbursement teams.

Essential Functions:
  • Financial Management
    Performs, plans, organizes, controls, supports and administers all finance-related work regarding the input of the Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting system. (30%)
  • Systems Administration
    Oversees and manages monthly maintenance of core system tables and data structures and inputs. Identifies corrects performance and implementation failures, faults or defaults that impair system and equipment performance and functionality. Perform troubleshooting, research and documentation of incidents and problems. Use ticketing system to properly document and escalate issues as reported. Makes recommendations for system upgrades and improvements. (30%)
  • Data Collection and Reporting
    Collects and summarizes performance results for Organizational and Clinical Operations scorecard reporting. Prepares other financial reports and dashboards as directed. Prepares analytical reports, analyses and forecasts regarding costing performance against budget or other criteria, as requested to support financial reporting needs. Develops repprts and resource allocation/timelines associated with key work products related to financial and scorecard reporting. (25%)
  • Project Management
    Leads multidimensional software implementation projects and developing valuable client/customer relationships. Analyzes results, model the future, and optimize decision making to support long-range planning, budgeting and forecasting, reporting and analytics, profitability and cost management functions. Incorporate best practices in financial planning and reporting into deployment and improvement strategies. (5%)
  • System Design
    Design, implements, maintains and enhances systems on regular basis in support of Denver Health organizational strategic and operational objectives. Scope of work includes: maintains Costing and Financial reporting data structure standards, including data definitions for calculated fields for Costing and financial reporting systems. (5%)
  • Practice and Policy
    Development and documentation of standard work for system updates. Contributes process improvements in reporting, forecasting, and financial planning activities through automation, system enhancements, data validation, data quality, consolidation and quality improvement. (5%)

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Work Experience:
  • 7-9 years Seven years' experience in cost accounting or financial analysis, analyzing business systems and flow, working directly with financial system data Required and
  • 1-3 years Healthcare and analytical reporting tool experience preferred.

Licenses:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Understanding of finance in healthcare and/or an academic medical center environment preferred: financial statements, volume-based forecasting process, and hospital-faculty practice relationship
    • Ability to quickly understand operations and key financial components to support the implementation and maintenance of Costing and Financial Reporting systems.
    • Ability to perform longitudinal financial analysis.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external colleagues. Strong presentation skills to a variety of audiences
    • Ability to explain complex costing, budget and financial information to a broad range of individuals from various backgrounds.
    • Excellent customer service skills in a multiple-constituency environment.
    • Must have a collaborative working style and be a team player with proven ability to interact well with all levels of management and staff
    • Strong leadership, relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to work effectively across all levels of management and staff
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet multiple time deadlines is a necessity. Ability to work under time constraints, meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working with detailed information
    • Familiar with software applications related to financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, general ledger and other such applications as they interface with healthcare financial planning applications.
    • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
    • Experience with Infor, Lawson ERP, general ledger, accounts payable preferred.
    • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

    • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

    • Problem solving - the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action.
