This is a professional position responsible for administering all aspects of the intramural sports program, including league and tournament development and scheduling, hiring and training of officials, marketing, player discipline, and maintain program budget. Develop new intramural sports programs, with responsibilities that include creating game rules, identifying equipment needs, organizing leagues, and training new staff. Manage the esports space including scheduling, hiring, and training of staff, equipment maintenance, and creating programming initiatives related to esports.

Duties & Responsibilities:


Management & Administration: Intramural Sports
  • Arrange for space, schedule, and prepare facilities for intramural, special events/ tournaments, at times in collaboration with other colleges and universities.
  • Prepare schedules for officials and supervisors.
  • Track intramural results, participants, etc.; maintain database of all intramural records.
  • Oversee the inventory and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure activity area is torn down and all equipment is accounted for at the end of every shift/activity.
  • Complete reports, detailing activities, and any areas of concern regarding activities or facilities.
  • Organize and lead official training clinics for intramural sports.

Management & Administration: E-sports
  • Manage facility operation including hardware and software maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to schedule and prepare facility for special events.
  • Market research for industry standards to maintain competitive usage of the facility.
  • Knowledge of competitive, online PC gaming across multiple.

Financial & Budgetary Management
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of the Recreation and Wellbeing Intramural budget.
  • Invoice University Community and outside entities for programming related to area.

Training & Development of Employees
  • Train intramural supervisors, sport officials, and e-sports supervisors on Recreation and Wellbeing regulations and policies. Enforce regulations and policies and assist other employees in carrying them out.
  • Contribute to and support the development of new policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Hire, train, develop, and manage staff to meet program objectives and departmental needs.
  • Plan, assign, and review work of staff to ensure group objectives are met.

Strategic Planning
  • Actively work to develop and achieve departmental strategic planning goals, particularly in the area of student learning.
  • Assist the Director with annual reporting for the department in areas of strategic initiatives at various university levels.
  • Provides management reports, analysis, data, and information for administrative purposes; assists with grants or related funding sources.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Any one of the following, from the categories below:

A. Master's degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field)

OR

B. Final semester or completed Graduate Assistantship with campus recreation or similar department performing duties for two (2) academic years consistent in area of specialization inherent to the position. *

OR

C. Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field)

AND

One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in the promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs.

OR

D. 4 years (48 months) of work experience in promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs, intercollegiate athletics, campus recreation, park district or similar organization that provides similar program.

2. Minimum of 2 years of work experience in officiating mechanics and intramural sports rules. These 2 years of experience may be concurrent with any of the minimum acceptable qualifications (MAQs).

*Note: Students in the final semester of a Master's Degree program, may be allowed to complete a credential examination and will receive full consideration, including being interviewed. An offer may be extended with understanding that proof of degree based on institution is provided to the employing institution Human Resources Office at least two weeks before the proposed start date.

**Note: Newly hired employees may be required to obtain and/or maintain certifications in American Red Cross, CPR/AED/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens and similar certifications.
