Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: High school graduation or equivalency.
  • Experience: 2 years' experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
  • Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's license upon hire.
  • Candidates must possess an ADEQ Grade III certification or a Grade II certification in Wastewater Treatment upon hire, with the requirement to achieve a Grade III certification within one year of employment.

The City of Peoria is seeking an energetic, self-driven individual to join the night shift of the Butler Water Reclamation Operations Team. The Butler Plant operates 24/7, and this role involves shift work, including weekends, holidays, standby duties, and on-call responsibilities. The proposed schedule for this position is Wednesday to Saturday, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, but this is subject to change based on operational needs.

We are excited to offer a $4,000 hiring incentive for this night position.

The Butler Water Reclamation Facility is a state-of-the-art 10 MGD Membrane Bioreactor Facility.

This position is classified as the second level of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations. Key responsibilities include:



  • Monitoring, operating, and performing preventive maintenance on treatment plants and remote sites.
  • Conducting routine inspections and identifying issues with processes and equipment at the Butler WRF and Influent Pump Station.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Operator or Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will possess:



  • A strong desire to learn and apply advanced wastewater treatment technologies.
  • A collaborative mindset, excelling in teamwork and fostering positive relationships.
  • A current Grade 2 or higher Wastewater Treatment Certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).
  • Alternatively, a current wastewater certification from another state, with reciprocity acceptable to ADEQ.
