Job Summary

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition and establishes a plan of care.
  • Performs therapy programs utilizing standard therapy techniques as appropriate for the patient's age, functional impairments, abilities, needs, and desires.
  • Documents delivery of Therapy services.
  • Educates patients, family, caregivers, significant others, and staff members.
  • Directs and supervises activities of Assistants and support personnel as indicated.
  • Acts as coordinator for clinical education.
  • Coordinates department functions.
  • Provides leadership and resource support

Qualifications

Education

  • Requires a bachelor's, masters or doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist.

Licensure/Certification/Registration/Professional Designation

  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
  • APTA Clinical Instructor Certification required or must be completed within the first two years.

Experience

  • Required 2 years of clinical experience in acute orthopedic care.
  • Prefer 5 years and board certification as a Clinical Orthopedic Specialist.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of principles of evidence based practice.
