Job Overview
The Manager Safety & Environmental/ Facilities inspects work areas, products, and employee work habits to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies (e.g. OSHA and EPA) which will require the application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below. Also, supervises internal maintenance and janitorial technicians as well as oversees contractors and outside services as it relates to routine operation of the facility. In this hands-on role, this person will also execute the tactical aspects of security, maintenance, and project management of the building while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements for operation.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
- Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational, environmental, and health concerns, such as; chemical exposure, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, solvents, and potential ergonomic issues.
- Develops, trains, and provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining Safety Data Sheets.
- Provides technical guidance relative to health and safety regulations and recommendations to management and labor organizations per applicable government agencies and civic groups; such as, ensuring employees are trained in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (OSHA).
- Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
- Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to health and safety.
- Compiles information to complete government reports and must submit reports to meet set deadlines.
- Presents reports and suggestions for improvement to Management.
- Responds to on-site emergencies and incidents. On call 24/7
- Investigates on-the job incidents and submits findings to the corporate level.
- Monitors the manufacturing floor daily to ensure all activity meets safety and environmental compliance.
- Leads efforts to continuously improve Safety performance on the campus; including the adoption of innovative programs and practices to overcome plateaus in performance, the timely execution of corrective and preventative action plans, and implementation of value improvement projects focused on improving facility safety.
- Manages team of Maintenance/Facility techs and contractors to ensure proper operation of facility.
- Engage with everyone from all departments on safety and facility needs and upkeep.
- Abiding to safety requirements including Lock out Tagout, Chemical Management, Fall Prevention, ConfinedSpaces, Electrical Safety, 5S, Mobile Equipment, and lifting equipment.
- Works with Lease Holder in the management of the building within the business park.
- Acts as the liaison with the local fire & protection agencies.
- Leads facility in contractor services including security monitoring and cleaning.
- Participates in Job Safety Analysis & daily Gemba Walks for routine audits and hazard identification.
- Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and evaluations of facility equipment to determine installation or repair service needs.
- Obtain quotations and write project proposals for approval and manage project to completion.
- Executes and inputs data into Facility Management Software (Benchmark).
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.

- Demonstrates knowledge of the specific tools, machinery, or equipment used.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations while remaining calm during crisis.
- Coursework and training in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Project management and large capital project execution skills necessary.
- Understanding of EPA & OSHA regulations.
- Lean tools and root cause analysis experience a plus.
- ERP system (SAP) experience a plus.
- Digital Safety Management System (Benchmark) experience a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or University; or 6+years related experience and/or training in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
