Who You'll Work With
As the Specialist, Voluntary ESG Reporting, you will support key workstreams within GSR's ESG Reporting pillar, reporting to the Manager, Voluntary ESG Reporting & Client Requests. You will work closely with colleagues across GSR as well as other firm cells and functions, including e.g., Risk, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, People/HR, All In- Diversity & Inclusion, Optimize, Reach and Engagement, and others.
The Firm's Global Social Responsibility (GSR) cell oversees McKinsey's social responsibility efforts and voluntary Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities. GSR has direct oversight of the firm's environmental sustainability, colleague engagement, inclusion, and voluntary ESG reporting, including our annual ESG Report and third-party ratings and submissions. We also partner cross-functionally with a diverse group of internal teams that own and drive other topic -specific ESG activities and commitments.
Your impact within our firm
You will play a critical role in delivering clear, accurate and compelling reporting about our ESG practices to key stakeholders, with a particular focus on clients, third-party ratings/ rankings organizations, and other ESG audiences.
You will work with CSTs, functional and other leaders from across the firm to ensure our messages reflect our latest activities and support McKinsey's broader value proposition. Specifically, you will manage the publication of the firm's annual ESG Report, lead submissions to external ESG ratings and rankings prioritized by the firm, and serve as a central global point of contact for responding to client requests about McKinsey's ESG practices. You will play a central role in understanding the changing ESG landscape and how it impacts McKinsey and translating those insights into actionable recommendations for the firm's voluntary reporting.
In this role, you will also:
  • Support submissions to external ESG ratings/rankings prioritized by the firm (i.e., CDP Climate disclosure, EcoVadis assessment, and UN Global Compact annual Communication on Progress)
  • Support ongoing engagement with the external ratings/rankings agencies; understand the reporting requirements and assessment methodologies; analyze the key factors driving the firm's rankings/scores, and identify and communicate opportunities for improvement
  • Serve as point of contact for internal requests from CSTs and firm functions related to clients' questions about the firm's own ESG practices that come in through RFP/LOP process, supplier questionnaires, client discussions and other channels, and ensure accurate, timely and clear response
  • Manage, track and catalogue the ESG client requests; Identify and analyze key trends in client requests and offer recommendations on how to improve our ESG practices and external reporting in line with changing client expectations
  • Drive innovation in the client requests response operating model to ensure continuous improvement in the speed and quality of response to client ESG requests (e.g., process automation, use of Gen AI tools, etc.)
  • Conduct competitive analysis/benchmarking of peers and others on ESG reporting overall, performance on specific high priority topics as well as results in key ratings and rankings
Your qualifications and skills
  • University degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with exposure to ESG reporting and communications
  • Excellent customer service mindset and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and potential shifts in priorities
  • Prior experience in a risk, compliance or RFP/LOP management role preferred
  • Passionate about ESG topics and the firm's environmental, social and client impact

is $113,800 - $169,200 USD -to help you understand what you can expect. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest

to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current

and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
