Position Title: Faculty, Child DevelopmentJob Description: POSITION TITLE: FACULTY, Child DevelopmentSTATUS: Full time DEPARTMENT: Agricultural, Horticultural, and Veterinary Sciences DIVISION: Career and Technical Education CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Faculty REPORTS TO: Department Chair PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. MINIMUM PAY RATE: Qualifications include education and related work experience. START DATE: August 11, 2025 Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. ESSENTIALJOBDUTIESANDKEYRESPONSIBILITIES 3. Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities. 10. Collaborate with colleagues to address community and Early Child Care and Education workforce needs. 13. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. 14. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission. 15. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS 3. A minimum of five (5) years experience serving families and children from birth up to three years of age. 4. A minimum of three (3) years experience as an administrator in childcare center programs. 6. Possess advanced knowledge and skills with coaching, mentoring and supervising entry level early childhood teachers. 7. Familiarity with appropriate technologies for instruction including knowledge of systems relevant to the industry such as CLASS, TSG, Creative Curriculum, ECERS/ITERS, etc. 9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. 10.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality. PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS 2. Experience teaching at the community college level. 3. Proficiency in teaching online and/or using course management programs. 4. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service. 5. Experience in community engagement, working with social service agencies and school districts. 6. Possess a network of industry employers and professionals to integrate and expand opportunities for program students. 7. Experience teaching children who are English Language Learners. 8. Experience teaching children with disabilities. 9. Experience with IL Gateways Credentials and NAEYC Competencies and Standards. 10. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 11. Demonstrated multicultural competence. PHYSICALDEMANDS 2. The ability to work with the materials and equipment in the CDEV classroom. WORKINGCONDITIONS 2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from area Early Child Care and Education facilities.
