Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Designer to join our Site Development - Infrastructure team in either Virginia Beach, VA or Newport News, VA offices.

The Senior Designer will support licensed engineers in developing layouts and designs, for site development and infrastructure projects. As a key member of a project team, the Senior Designer will work under the guidance of Engineering Management to ensure functional excellence, technical competency, and professional growth.

This hybrid role allows for a blend of in-office and remote work. It may require occasional local travel to construction sites, facilities, or client's sites to address design issues and to monitor construction progress.


Responsibilities

  • Preparing sketches, drawings, and specifications for land development projects.
  • Performing engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Organizing designs and details to produce comprehensive drawing sets.
  • Utilizing engineering-related computer software for design an analysis.
  • Projecting estimates, conducting fieldwork/surveys, and preparing drawings.
  • Assisting in the preparation of contract specifications.
  • Assisting in gathering applicable existing condition information.
  • Assisting the Project Engineer with completing permit applications and packages, obtaining jurisdictional approvals, and assisting with preparation of plans for submission for site plan approval.
  • Other dutites as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical experience is required.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience and knowledge in site development design, supporting both public and private development projects
  • Advanced skills utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D to generate site plan drawings including layout, erosion control, grading, and drainage, as well as profiles and cross sections, for private and public land development projects is required.
  • Ability and knowledge to complete engineering calculations to support design efforts is preferred.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
