JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The laboratory of ProfessorMiriam Freedman in the Department of Chemistry,at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position in the area of physical and chemical characterization of organic atmospheric aerosol particles. Research will involve investigation of liquid-liquid phase separation in model aerosol systems. Experiments will be performed using optical and electron microscopy, in addition to supporting characterization which will be performed using a variety of techniques. The ideal postdoctoral candidateswill have research experience in one or more of the following fields: atmospheric chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or environmental engineering. The successful candidate will have prior experience with aerosol chemical characterization. Applicants must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D.in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts. The individual should be self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects,as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.
